Furnaces By Tyler Earp

A good furnace will keep your home warm and comfortable all winter long. There’s nothing quite like coming in from the cold to a toast warm house where you can relax. Choosing the right furnace for your home does not have to be difficult. There are several options to consider, each with their own pros and cons.

Natural gas furnaces are found commonly in many homes. They are highly efficient; depending on which model you choose, they can run at upwards of 94% efficiency. They work by igniting natural gas and then sending heated air through your home using a distribution system with several fans and blowers. This pushes hot air through your home’s duct system so that it is heated evenly.

Oil furnaces function in a very similar way. Instead of burning natural gas, however, they produce heat through oil combustion. Electric furnaces are also available. These tend to be much less efficient than furnaces that burn natural gas or oil. They are well suited for more moderate climates where homes do not need to be heated around the clock for several months at a time.

Fuel costs are always going up, but finding a modern furnace that runs at a high efficiency is a great way to save money on monthly heating costs. New technology has allowed manufacturers to produce furnaces that are much more efficient that those made ten or more years ago. Many people have older furnaces in their homes that only run at around 80% efficiency. Compare that to new models that run at 90% or more. Clearly, there is a lot of money to be saved on heating costs with a high efficiency furnace model.

Shopping for a new furnace may seem like a daunting task, but it does not have to be. There are great online tools available that are completely free to use which will help you make an educated choice about which furnace to buy for your home. You can use the same tools to get in contact with experienced heating contractors in your area.
